Brawler. Renegade. Warrior. Not words you would typically use to describe hospital employees. Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center employee recognition program, “Claxton Defenders,” shows that these are good characteristics in employees to ensure the best care is provided to patients. On December 6 at the Medical Center’s Annual Employee Holiday event, Cecil Barr, who has worked at the Medical Center since, 2004 was named Defender of the Year.
Earlier in the year, during one of our quarterly Defender ceremonies, Barr was nominated as our Warrior of the quarter. At Claxton-Hepburn, a Warrior is fully engaged in their role; and dependable and has the power to endure. Some comments from the peers that nominated Kring to include, “Cecil is an asset to both the Medical Center and the community. He is complimented by patients and staff as always going above and beyond and putting safety first. No matter the weather, Cecil still keeps his sunny, cheerful, and courteous disposition whether he is parking a vehicle or assisting someone crossing the street.” Claxton-Hepburn’s Chief Executive Officer, Chuck Gigjanto had this to say about Cecil: “Thank you for being such an amazing ambassador for Claxton-Hepburn; you set the tone for our patients and visitors as they arrive. Thank you, Cecil, for such incredible customer service skills!”
Mr. Barr received a holiday arrangement, a recognition certificate, gift cards, and a special parking space. New Claxton Defenders will be recognized each quarter. Employees are nominated by co-workers and supervisors.
