The St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund has once again awarded Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Richard E. Winter Cancer Center with a generous grant of $10,000. The grant represents a portion of the proceeds from the most recent Edward I. Moses Walk/Run for Life, which is held each spring.
For many years, the Cancer Fund has awarded Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center with generous grants that are used for cancer prevention, education, free screenings, outreach, and treatment. During the past years, the grant funds have been used to provide free colonoscopies and free lung cancer screenings to uninsured individuals. This year’s grant will be used to fund free colonoscopies, free lung cancer screenings using low-dose CT scanning, a new chemotherapy chair, and cancer patient copay assistance.
Shown in the photo accepting the donation from St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund member Barb Spadaccini (center) is Winter Cancer Center Nurse Mary Joe Myers, and Winter Cancer Center Director, Kay Zimmer.
