Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center will be providing a free breastfeeding class to offer help to new moms. The program is open to any expecting or new mother who has questions about breastfeeding. The class will be held on January 17, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Medical Center’s Hess Auditorium. Vicki McLain, RN, a certified lactation consultant will facilitate the class. To register, call 315-713-5251.
Claxton-Hepburn knows that breastfeeding is the healthiest thing a woman can do for her baby, but some women aren’t sure how to get started, or what is normal. Many do not have a mother who breastfed to turn to for direction and support. Claxton-Hepburn wants to provide that direction and support through the class with the goal of providing mothers with practical solutions to the most common breastfeeding concerns. During the class, topics to be discussed include: successful breastfeeding, returning to work while breastfeeding and breastfeeding in public. New mothers and their support person are encouraged to attend.
