Because of the many ongoing construction projects at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, the Medical Center chose to be a host a facility for Infection Control Risk Assessment training for construction sites offered by the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. The eight-hour course stresses that contractors and facilities staff are actually healthcare workers while performing construction and maintenance. It focuses on patient safety by breaking the chain of infection to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections in our patients. Contractors working at the Medical Center joined Claxton-Hepburn’s safety officer, quality officer, senior leadership, facilities staff, and department managers from supply chain management, surgical services, and environmental services, to receive the training and certification.
