“This was my first time giving birth at Carthage. The birth was a bit too quick and ended up happening at the ER but Dr. Wu and the team of nurses were quick to act allowing for a safe delivery. Each of my three sons were delivered at different hospitals, and Carthage's Nurses were the most caring out of all three. After leaving the hospital Diane Rucker, RN noticed I had forgotten the bassinet tag and sent it via usps for our momentos! Every caregiver I had was so cognizant of our needs, which made it a great experience. In 2023, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center celebrated the birth of an exceptional number of newborns, warmly welcoming 136 future graduates into the world. The previous year, in 2022, we had the privilege of delivering 133 babies, and in 2021, our dedicated team brought 138 babies into the embrace of their families. Navigating Pediatric Appointments in a Baby's First Year

Birth to 3-5 Days: The Initial Assessments

The pediatric journey begins at birth, where the newborn undergoes their first comprehensive health check. This examination is crucial in identifying any immediate health issues and establishing baseline measurements. A follow-up visit within 3 to 5 days post-birth is essential for monitoring early developmental milestones, addressing feeding practices, and ensuring the infant’s overall well-being.

1 Month: Growth and Development Check

At one month, the focus is on assessing the baby's weight gain, growth, and overall development. This visit often includes discussions on feeding, sleep patterns, and parental concerns, providing a valuable opportunity for caregivers to seek advice and support.

2, 4, and 6 Months: Continual Growth Monitoring
